Decluttering
I'm quite a chaotic person on the whole but absolutely love a little organisation, so thought I'd share my tips and tricks here that I use to help me - maybe they can help you too, though I know everyone works in a different way, it's good sometimes to see how others do it to get ideas. What are your favourite decluttering tips, tricks and habits? -
My greatest personal achievement to date! Running the London 2012 Marathon
There isn't a lot that has tested my mental strength and physical endurance than the marathon I ran in 2012. Which is a very bold statement considering at the same time as training for the marathon I was also moving house and planning a wedding! I actually got married just 10 days after doing the marathon, which looking back now should have been a sign of how hectic things were to come. -
Biggest wrong turning
Imagine getting the car loaded up ready for a little road trip, doing 51 miles of your 64-mile journey and coming across a "diversion" sign on the motorway... not to worry, you think to yourself, it shouldn't put us too far behind our scheduled arrival time. So, you take the next junction to follow the diversion route, and whilst coming around the roundabout to get yourself back onto the motorway as signposted, your sat nav recalibrates and tells you that you have a whole FOURTY MILES left of your journey!

Holidays when younger
For me those Butlins and Pontins holidays are like the pinnacle of British childhood, I think anyone who's never experienced one is missing out! It's almost like a rite of passage. There are more of these types of places popping up now - with options such as Haven, Parkdean Resorts, Hoseasons, and many more... each one seems to have something extra to offer and those traditional UK family park holidays have gone from standard seems and craft clubs to horse riding, rock climbing, paragliding, you name it, someone does it! All of the activities you would once only access elsewhere is now available on your doorstep. -

Outdoor Lido's in UK
A lido is basically an outdoor swimming pool. It can be a part of a beach, and usually comes with other facilities. Many lidos are located close to other bodies of water, such as the sea. We've visited a few of them now and my plan is to travel and visit as many as we can! Since Alfie was deregistered from the school system and we started home schooling him, I've been trying to find more and more things to do, for as little money as possible. It's important for us to keep his education fun and varied, not just for him but for us too. -
Age of Independence
My worry if we don't choose to give Alfie that freedom and flexibility to do his own thing and make his own mistakes is that he will do exactly what I did as a child/teen and rebel. The way I see it, having lived it, and I'm sure you have to, is that he's going to do it anyway! It's a part of human nature to take risks, to test boundaries, to live through experiences and learn from them. He's going to do it with or without our say so, so we'd rather have that open dialogue and him be able to tell us. E.g. if he decides to have a drink at a party at 16, I'd rather him be able to be honest about that with us so we know where he is, who he's with, and can pick him up when he's ready to come home so we know for certain he's safe. -
Breakfast choices
When it comes to breakfast do you prefer sweet or savoury? When talking sweet I don't mean chocolate bars or slices of cake (though no judgement here!) ... I'm thinking waffles, pancakes, fruit, whipped cream, a drizzle of caramel or chocolate sauce to pair. -
Social media perfection
Where it's made to look authentic, despite being scheduled and scripted more than any TV drama or Hollywood film... people competing for the next best thing, wanting to do better than the person before them. You think you see someone succeeding and want a piece of that yourself when they might actually be crying themselves to sleep at night, totally unhappy with their life. And those snippets show literal seconds of a person's life, even when it IS real it's rarely a reflection of the full day.
